ArtOtel Zagreb

Art’otel – relaxed luxury, modern art, a comfortable stay, wonderful breakfast and parking in the center of Zagreb

We discovered Art’otel in Zagreb in the summer, when we were looking for a sky bar with cocktails and music. We liked the lobby interior and booked it for one night on our way back from Italy.

I really liked the hotel and would stay there again. You’ll find out why if you keep reading below. Further down you’ll also find a tip about something important.

Highlights from my 5D Sensograph experience:

See captivating large paintings by Croatian artists on the walls, quirky clay vessels and all kinds of interesting decorations.

Feel a great central location and comfort in every respect. The rooms are slightly smaller, but very cozy.

Feel not only the music options from the TV, but also a small, charming retro radio where you can choose a station to your taste.

Smell the aroma of excellent Italian brand coffee and tea in the morning, offered as compliments.

Taste filtered water, available via an option from the maxi bar in the corridor.

See at Art’otel …

… Art is everywhere in the hotel and makes a strong impression, appealing to lovers of elegant style.

Stunning views of Zagreb from the rooftop sky bar.

… Electronic control of all lighting and blackout curtains.

Feel at Art’otel …

… A housekeeping oversight: there was no body lotion in the bathroom dispenser.

… The hotel has a spa with two saunas and a pool, plus a 24 hour gym.

… The hotel is right in the heart of the city. You can explore all nearby sights in a short time, and the best restaurants are within walking distance.

… Despite its prime central location, the hotel also offers parking. Valet service takes care of parking your car. You just stop briefly in front of the hotel, unload your luggage, and they handle the rest.

… The minibar was empty, but in the corridor there is a butler’s corner, accessible with your room card, where you can purchase anything you might need.

Hear at Art’otel …

… The small retro radio is your music box if you miss having sound in the room.

… The hotel is well insulated from outside noise with double glazing, but unfortunately soundproofing between neighboring rooms is not as strong.

Smell at Art’otel …

… The aroma of espresso in the room in the morning, thanks to complimentary Illy capsules.

Taste at Art’otel …

… Complimentary coffee, tea and water. A small sweet treat, typical for this class of hotel, was missing.

… A wonderful breakfast, rated by me 10 out of 10. In addition to ordering various egg dishes, coffee, tea and fresh juices from the waiter, the buffet offers an abundance of Croatia’s best cheeses, cured meats, several types of excellent bread, local desserts, cereals, fruit, vegetables and honey.

… Breakfast is served in the restaurant Yezi, which offers Asian cuisine. It has a high rating and is worth dining at, as well as enjoying cocktails from its bar. Unfortunately, it is closed on Sunday evenings and we could not try it. If you are there on a Sunday, you can dine from the bar menu, which includes most of the restaurant’s offerings, except the main dishes.

We had dinner at a nearby bistro, Beštija, recommended by Michelin with a Bib Gourmand, but we were somewhat disappointed. You’ll find out why from my post on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook dedicated to it.

If you also stay at Art’otel, I have a few tips for you:

Tip 1: If you want to close the curtains, use the “close” button on the control panel of the bedside unit.

Tip 2: Before booking, become a Radisson member. You will get not only a better room rate on the hotel website, but also a 10 percent discount on everything you consume at the hotel.

Tip 3: Everything in the hotel can be charged to the room. Just remember which room belongs to the Radisson Club member and charge everything to that room to receive the 10 percent discount.

Tip 4: If you are staying during the Christmas and New Year holidays and don’t feel like pushing through the crowds at the Christmas market, but still want to enjoy seasonal food, the rooftop bar is set up as a mini Christmas market. It has a photo corner and street food prepared fresh in front of you, featuring not only typical Croatian sausages, but also options inspired by the hotel’s Asian restaurant. Naturally, for this comfort, prices are about twice those at the central Christmas market.
