Bellevue Bruneck: Cozy Design for a Ski Getaway in Alto Adige, Italy

Bellevue Bruneck offers rental apartments in the mountain town of Bruneck, or Brunico in Italian, located in South Tyrol, also known as Alto Adige—the part of Italy where you feel like you’re in Austria. You’re surrounded by German speech and Italian cuisine, freezing temperatures and bright sunshine. But most importantly, there are wide slopes and state-of-the-art facilities.

Brunico is a very pleasant town with a nice historical center. The most important thing is that it’s just a 6-minute drive to the main lifts that take you to Kronplatz. The large parking lot always had space and was well-organized, with staff guiding parking to optimize the space. The lifts operate at high speed and quickly take skiers up to the slopes.

Kronplatz’s unique advantage is that all its facilities offer maximum comfort for getting around, with great safety and convenience, including for beginner skiers. You can read more about skiing at Kronplatz in other posts

Experience accents as per the 5D Sensograph:

See pleasant minimalist interior design with untreated wood as the main element.

Feel warmth of the sauna, a bathtub in the bedroom—not very convenient.

Hear silence and tranquility, good insulation from outside noise.

Smell the aroma of wood in the sauna.

Taste whatever you buy yourself and have in mind that the tap water is drinkable and very good.

See in Bellevue Bruneck …

… The wood is a wonderful element, adding coziness.

A huge terrace with a fireplace: shutters can be lowered, but only when there’s no wind, as they retract automatically.

Almost 360-degree views in one room: two walls have French windows, one of which opens completely to the living area.

Feel in Bellevue Bruneck

… Expensive—€575 per night as of December 2024, with no meals included. Not the most expensive option but definitely not cheap.

… Convenient parking, even for SUVs with a roof box.

… The bathtub in one of the rooms wasn’t an advantage for us: it took up space and wasn’t used. Puddles on the wooden floor where you sleep don’t create coziness. In some rooms, the bathtub is positioned by the French windows, and the beautiful view slightly compensates for the discomfort.

… The kitchen equipment is adequate: dishwasher tablets were provided, but only one per day; toilet paper—just two rolls; no laundry detergent. You have to get everything yourself. The equipment is just enough for four people; if you break something, you’ll lose a piece. There’s no oven, but upon request, we were provided with a small portable one, though it had no stand and had to be placed on the floor near an outlet. Salt and pepper were provided, but no sugar.

… No complimentary treats like chocolates, wine, coffee, or tea. At these prices, there should have been something. In all the apartments we rented in Iceland, we had small surprises like these.

… The possibility of lighting the fireplace on the terrace was a pleasant surprise: firewood is provided, so you can enjoy red wine by the fire, well-dressed, of course.

… The TV isn’t smart: meaning it doesn’t have apps like Netflix, Apple TV, or Prime. The only option is to share your phone screen, but the image quality is poor. We had to watch movies in German, or in English if we were lucky enough to find undubbed versions.

When we arrived, it was very cold, and the underfloor heating, even on max, couldn’t warm this glass aquarium. We messaged the hosts, and they suggested turning on the sauna and leaving its door open to heat the room. That was the only way to warm up.

…The bathroom didn’t dry easily, as there was no fan, and we relied on underfloor heating. However, it was convenient that the toilet was separate from the shower cabin.

… Local vegan soaps made from natural ingredients were provided and could be used for hands, hair, body, etc: They weren’t bad, but if you use specialized cosmetics for hair, face, or body, bring them—especially lotions and creams.

Due to several small overlooked details, I’m deducting two hearts. For the price, these issues should have been resolved.

Hear in Bellevue Bruneck …

It’s quiet at night: the window insulation is excellent.

You can play music through your phone by connecting it wirelessly to the TV.

Movie-watching time: 2:11 min.

Smell in Bellevue Bruneck

The sauna smells pleasantly of wood.

Morning coffee if you’ve bought it yourself: Coffee makers are provided—three types, one even makes pretty good cappuccino. But as mentioned earlier, no complimentary sugar or coffee is provided.

Taste in Bellevue Bruneck

… No breakfast, not even available for an extra fee. Everything has to be arranged by you. This might be fine for some, but not ideal for those who don’t like cooking, especially in the rush of early skiing. There’s a fridge, so you can stock it yourself.

Bruneck and the surrounding area offer good restaurants. I’d recommend Hardimitz’n for steaks and pizza, and b.local for fine dining, though the latter has very slow service despite the delicious food. There’s also a 3-Michelin-star restaurant nearby, very expensive, but if you’re a fan, book early.

We stumbled upon Bellevue Bruneck by chance, but overall, we liked it. When booking in summer, there weren’t many other options left, and this was the most reasonable in terms of price. Bellevue isn’t a bad choice, but there are better ones if you plan and book in January for December.
