See in Italiano Vero …

… Pleasantly decorated interior: numerous food pictures on the walls, colorful ceiling lamps, and the famous red and white checkered tablecloths, resembling a typical Italian trattoria. As a first impression, very well done.

… The menu abounds with pizzas and pasta, just as we expected.

Feel  in Italiano Vero

… Informal addressing to the guests: I don’t like this style, I don’t speak that way to waitstaff. I continued using the formal form, but it took the waiter some time to realize that he needed to change his approach. Otherwise, they are smiling and courteous, but the informality seems more Balkan than Italian.

Hear in Italiano Vero

… Retro Italian music: I liked it a lot, perfectly in harmony with the ambiance. I heard old songs that I had forgotten and it brought me much joy.

Movie-watching time: 1:01 min.

Smell in Italiano Vero

… Appetizing aromas from the dishes: all the ingredients used are fresh and smell very good, just as expected.

… The nose of good Italian wine served by the glass from a bottle: wine is a crucial addition to Italian food, so quality options by the glass are always a good choice in an Italian restaurant.

Taste  in Italiano Vero

… Pizza: it is good but not the best in Sofia. If someone asks me to recommend a pizzeria, this place would make it into the top 3 only if the person is nearby and within walking distance.

… Pasta: the pasta is not bad. They recommended trying the Carbonara, and I liked it, but it was quite salty, even for my taste accustomed to more salt. They assured me that it is made authentically without cream, unlike some Bulgarian chefs in Italian restaurants who tend to overuse cream for white sauces, and it was indeed the case.

… Burrata Salad: A significant disappointment was the burrata salad. When ordering this expensive variation of soft cheese, I expect quality tomatoes to accompany it. Instead, tasteless, plastic-like tomato slices arrived, which the waiter himself referred to as “apples,” indicating that they are aware they are not suitable. The decision was attributed to the management, as Campari tomatoes were considered too expensive. If burrata is offered, the tomatoes should match its quality. People who order this type of cheese know it’s not cheap and won’t quibble about Campari tomatoes price.

Overall Experience: If you’re in the neighborhood, you can go to Italiano Vero for pizza and pasta. However, if you’re not in the area, I would suggest exploring other options.
