Spending our vacation on the wonderful island of Bali one day we decided that we were willing to visit teppanyaki restaurant. My kids are fans, we enjoy this healthy and delicious cooking, so I studied on the net about the best place in Nusa Dua. I asked the Concierge of Laguna Luxury Collection too and all roads led to the Hamabe at the Westin Hotel .
I made a reservation by e-mail, everything was settled online, there was no need for anyone to call. We reserved for 16 people. We ended up being only four. We didn’t get grumpy faces for that, on the contrary, they even apologized to us many times for some minor things. We chose to sit at the Teppan (the hot griddle on which the food is cooked) and we didn’t regret it. Hamabe means beach or foreshore, but it is located indoors.
See ….
…. Spacious, pleasant room with seating options, both at the Teppan and at the grill, named Robata Grill;
…. Large Tepan for about 16 people;
…. 4 Types of menus– à la carte, teppanyaki (cooked on a hot griddle) and two more themed;
…. The smooth movements of the Teppanyaki master, the accuracy with which he handles the food.
Feel ….
…. Service with great care, if you need anything, immediately a waiter appears next to you to help;
…. How gently the pre-warmed in the traditional manner sake tempers your throat and esophagus;
…. Extremely tender veal, medium to well done.
Hear ….
…. Asian music;
…. A friendly conversation with our neighbours at the Teppan. They turned out to be from Australia and they knew very well where Bulgaria was.
Smell …
…. The tempting aroma of melted butter with garlic, scallops, veal- your mouth waters but the room does not smell around.
…. Sake has a mild fruity odour, well supplemented with food.
Taste ….
…. The whole teppanyaki menu is very good– St. Jacques, veal, vegetables, lobster;
…. The dessert consisted of bananas, ice cream and a watermelon cube, and it was prepared on the Teppan, that’s right, the hot plate did not melt the ice cream- Magic! What accuracy of the process and movements are required to keep the ice cream all over and the watermelon fresh!
…. Miso Soup- nice smell, mildly warm, in contrast to the air-conditioned room;
…. Pinot Noir, Two Islands, 2016 local production, made with Australian grapes– a good way to avoid large excise on alcohol and get wine at normal price, appr. EUR 20-25 per bottle. The wine is very good, so if you’re a wine lover, lean on my recommendation. The imported alcohol has a very high excise duty and it costs over EUR 50 per the bottle in comparison with normally EUR 15-20 in Europe. In Hamabe you can order by glass too. That’s what we did after the jug with the sake.
Don’t miss to see Westin hotel , housing Hamabe. It is part of the portfolio of Marriott. As far as I know, it’s especially suitable for families with children.
