Literary “Once Bitten Twice Shy” restaurant in the center of Sofia, Bulgaria
I saw an add for Once Bitten Twice Shy Restaurant (in Bulgarian it is Paren Kasha Duha) and I was very enthusiastic to visit it. It’s something like a bistro, bar&dinner, or just a small restaurant.
I liked it overall, but there are many things to improve, and honestly, I felt like the namesake proverb. In other words, I don’t have the desire to visit it again.

Experience accents as per the 5D Sensograph:
See an interesting interior and a well-looking menu.
Feel slow and somewhat failing service.
Hear more over you cannot hear the music, because there are too many customers it is very noisy. The room has no textile at all to soften it.
Smell a light aroma of mango in shrimp tartlets.
Taste not particularly impressive food.

See in Once Bitten Twice Shy …
… A small place, urban style, nice for a quick bite: wooden tables and chairs, not particularly cozy.
… A small menu with interesting offerings: some dishes sound exotic and appetizing.
Feel in Once Bitten Twice Shy …
… There isn’t much organization, and the service is slow: while waiting to be served, it turned out that they couldn’t provide some things because they were out of products. They had trouble matching orders with available items. The waiter didn’t know what could and couldn’t be ordered when a certain item ran out, leading to confusion at one point.
… They serve the wine too warm: I explained to them that it should be kept at a precisely defined temperature, not just inside the room.
Hear in Once Bitten Twice Shy …
… I couldn’t hear the music much: I think it was good, but it was incredibly noisy because there was a large group of foreigners sitting just for drinks. The acoustics of the place are such that when there are many people it is too noisy. There is no textile to soften it.

Smell in Once Bitten Twice Shy …
… The shrimp tartlets have a mousse of avocado and mango, which makes their flavour very exotic and pleasant.
Taste in Once Bitten Twice Shy …
… The food isn’t bad in concept, but:
… The portions are small, more like tapas, i.e., small for their prices, but that’s not the biggest issue.
… Somehow the dishes are not memorable: you expect something very interesting and different, but it’s not impressive – everything is served on the same leafy salad with balsamic, for the salad, as a side, as a base…
… It turned out that some of the things we ordered couldn’t be served, and we were relying on at least enjoying those.
Under equal circumstances, I would come back to try the dishes I missed, but here the case is Once Bitten Twice Shy, and I no longer have that desire.
