When we stayed at Promenade hotel in Burgas, I decided next time to visit Norma, the restaurant, located on its ground floor and write a review about it. We had the pleasure to enjoy this stylish place, just at Easter. That’s how the 5D Sensograph perceived it.
…. Very nice, artistic interior. Largely due to the furniture from Kare;
…. The tables are of raw wood and are very impressive with their slight irregularity and authenticity;
…. Many paintings on the walls, mirrors, flowers, colorfulness;
…. Interesting cocktail list. For some of them there are even copper cups with a stool, which give an even more intriguing vision of the drink.
…. Calm atmosphere, leisure, enough space between the tables;
…. Accurate service, only that, I noticed that the late evening shift was at work early next morning at 8 a.m. for the hotel guests’ breakfast. I believe they were tired in the morning and due to that they have lost their sociability.
…. Famous rock and pop pieces in a slow soul-jazz arrangement. Such as the Shook Me All Night Long by ACDC in a very slow lyrical version. Strange, but not unpleasant in any case.
…. Coffee scent in the cocktail Tiramisu Martini….;
…. The paella was not very tasty, there was a slightly leathery squid, a few shrimps, mussels, chorizo, the rice was not impressive, and I did not smell saffron at all. I expected more from it;
…. The grilled shrimps were delicious and enough in the portion, served with a hearty green salad;
…. The octopus was not very good, slightly tough and was a small portion, however not cheap at all;
…. Salmon Ceviche. It is not common in Bulgarian restaurants and Norma impressed me with this appetizer, it was quite nice and there were crispy crusts from ciabatta.
…. Very good wine selection, with good Bulgarian representatives. They also had a Coravin, so they offered variety by glass. I enjoyed a glass of F2F Cabernet Sauvignon and Marselan 2017 from NewBloomWinery. Light fruity notes, with prevailing strawberries, minerality, medium acidity- quite well suited to the Ceviche.
I would recommend Norma to every visitor of Burgas because of the different experience that the place offers.
But here the emphasis is more on the steaks and it may be worth next time to put special attention on them in my review.
If you are planning a visit to Burgas and are looking for a suitable hotel, I would recommend Promenade, in which is restaurant Norma. If there are no rooms available, try another hotel, apartment, aparthouse. For your convenience, I added a booking.com box, which refers directly to their site. I guarantee you’re going to use all your genius discounts and privileges they would offer to you. Just enter the dates of your trip, then hit the Search button and voila. In addition, booking.com are doing their best to make sure that your expectations as a customer are fulfilled. I’ve described an example about the latter in my story about our stay in Shangri-La hotel in Singapore .
