Away from the Centre of Sofia like to break away from your busy life, filled with grueling challenges or tedious monotony, on Botevgradsko shose, on the left side, the street is Stanislav Dospevski ShowHow demonstration centre company Tomeko. An extremely interesting concept for a demonstration of professional kitchen equipment, cooking courses and clearing of the culinary performances.
This place held a concert of boss Ann Pham, “visiting Viet Nam”, part of the cycle “nights of 12 amateur chefs”, organized by the magazine Bacchus. Pre-paid flat cost was EUR 25 per person.
The first time I attended, but I’m sure that I will become a regular visitor. like many other people who are lucky to know about these events longer and visit them many times already.
It was a wonderful evening spent with wonderful taste and aroma of Asia, to the sounds of Vietnamese music, in the company of friends, like me fans of the culinary arts.
Fascinating right from the door of the interesting decorations on the walls of the rooms, from the stage of which was the preparation of the dishes, the beautiful Ann, hovered over them like a bee, the screen on which we watched more What happens when the team cooks. The Hall was full, the tables loaded with 3 instrument, chopsticks, several types of wine glasses-they all emerged an amazing culinary show.
ShowHow interior
The menu consisted of five parts: an appetizer, salad, main, dessert and complimentary closure. It was designed by Ann Pham, a young amateur chef, originating in Northern Viet Nam, fluent in Bulgarian (because he lives 5 years here).
Each one of the dishes was remarkable, extremely well balanced as a flavor and aroma, slightly spicy, and for lovers of the pungent with the option to work according to their taste. We learned a lot about how to cook up some of the products, such as rice pancake, cooked on steam, which, although fragile is quite labor intensive and time consuming, but incredibly delicious, especially with tree mushrooms like stuffing and pork terrine, flights with a sweet-sour, slightly spicy sauce.
The culmination was the main, which consisted of glazed catfish posing company with streaky pork, lie still like that on a bed of rice. The whole dish was wrapped by the magical scents of Lemongrass, Jasmine and ginger.
Ann Pham’s food
Each dish was added from the new Cavalier wines and cellar yet unknown Zelanos. We started with a white wine from Muscat, we passed through the rose of Pinot Noir, and the climax was with the main with red wine from Pinot Noir.
Although in northern Viet Nam has no tradition of making desserts, Ann was made an effort to make us one of the typical Asian products. It wasn’t exactly our favorite dish, but we are thankful that she had gone out and combined the very interesting. We wetted it with cognac Hennessy.
But what is Asian night without Jasmine tea! Of course I finished with him, adorned in the jug with the “blooming” tea. The first time I tried Candied Ginger, as a supplement to this final drink. Quite an interesting taste work.
Ann deserves all the applause and smiles, all the positive energy that the crowd exuded. I hope you have the energy for new culinary feats. What is the thinking and plans, you can read her blog In An’s Room, and you can test her recipes from her other blog An’s Kitchen.
Thank you, Ann, thank, Bacchus, thinking to organize this type of performances. Next time we’re coming back, the whole company!
