I came across Belmar Spa and Beach Resort after researching the Algarve region of Portugal. The hotel is on the outskirts of Lagos (some Portuguese pronounce it Lagosh), which is one of the most beautiful towns in the area. What is the biggest advantage of the hotel, read below in the review.
See in Belmar …
… The design of the hotel does not shine with any great originality, but there are some very pleasant corners;
… The campus is large and has many corridors like a maze. Sometimes I felt like I could get lost. Apparently, the hotel has gradually grown over the years and is under construction;
… Huge apartments;
… Good spa, well equipped and with a nice Asian style atmosphere.
Feel in Belmar …
… Huge and very comfortable apartments – for this money, you can never book something like this in Greece. We were in a trisonette, which on the ground floor had a living room with a kitchen, a bathroom and a veranda, on the second floor – 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, on the 3rd terrace with deckchairs and a table, with a view of the ocean;
… The kitchen is perfectly equipped – in addition to a coffee machine and a kettle for boiling water, there was even a blender. Stove, microwave and normal oven, large refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher, washing machine – all AEG brand. There are all kinds of dishes and utensils, including special ones for fish;
… People are generally kind, at the reception and the spa, especially the masseuses are very sunny and smiling. Only when you are greeted at the reception, all the information is thrown at you very quickly and then you have to wander a bit until you find your apartment, especially if it is not in the main building.
… There is no bellboy to help with the luggage;
… The campus has a large underground parking garage as well as numerous outdoor parking spaces;
… There are both outdoor and indoor pools, one of the outdoor pools is for adults over 16;
… In the restaurant, the service is good, the cleaning was perfect;
… In the restaurant, I did not like that the dishes were not well described in the menu. For example, Grilled Cheese turned out not to be grilled cheese, but toast with melted cheese inside. Or falafels with coleslaw, it’s basically cabbage with 4 little falafels.
… The massage therapists are very good in their job;
… Breakfast and dinner are arranged very well – if you haven’t paid in advance, you go to breakfast and for 20 euros per person, you get access to the block table. At dinner it’s the same, only 30 euros. Of course, there is also an à la carte menu, a snack menu, and a children’s menu.
… Since the word beach is included in the name of the hotel, I would like to point out that there is no beach near it, but the nearest beach is about 100 meters away. The problem is that there are no reserved sunbeds and you have to look for them. The price for the whole day is 20 euros for an umbrella and 2 sunbeds.
Hear in Belmar …
… Nice calm music in the restaurant;
… In the spa, during a massage, very nice relaxing gamelan music sounds in the background of a light murmur of rain, exactly in Asian style.
Movie watching time: 3:24 min.
Smell in Belmar …
… Wonderful oils for aroma therapy in the spa;
… The aroma of coffee in the morning from the espresso machine and the complimentary capsules they had left for us. However, the compliment is limited. It is necessary to purchase additional capsules for the stay, they are sold at preferential prices at the hotel bar.
… The aromas of Portuguese wines are remarkable, must be combined with food.
Taste in Belmar …
The food in the restaurant is delicious, and the freedom to choose between a buffet option, a la carte or from the snack menu is a very good decision.
… I would recommend trying the stewed in wine pork cheeks with added chorizo;
… When you’re in the Algarve, it’s always a good idea to eat tuna too, they catch it along the coast, it’s always fresh and they cook it wonderfully. In this case it is with onions.
… Another good idea is, especially if one is very hungry, to order an envelope, which includes bread, snacks and dips, which are always very tasty.
I recommend Belmar SPA Resort for anyone who values comfort, space, lack of schedule restrictions due to dining hours and proximity to a beach.
