While Sozopol is still waking up after the pandemic closures and preparing for the new summer season, Blu Bay Hotel is already welcoming another influx of guests after its opening for Easter.

When I saw its design in the photos on the Internet, I was very impressed and marked it for a visit, but every time I tried to make a reservation for a weekend in the last 2 years, it was fully booked. It seems that this season will be the same. Clients with visibly high demands had chosen it for the St. George’s Day holidays with the intention to continue to bet on the same choice when visiting the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The hotel is seasonal, otherwise I’m sure many of them would stay there in the winter, even just because of the beautiful view from it.

As always, to best describe the Blue Bay Hotel, I will use my trademark and evaluation tool – the 5D Sensograph of placescases.com, which refracts experiences through the prism of the 5 human senses.

…. Again for the view – if your room is overseeing the port, you can see the whole of it from your terrace, as well as the island of St. Kirik, with its beautiful old building of the Naval School, which unfortunately looks abandoned (see the short video below);

…. Kayak and scull boats crossing the cove from time to time;

…. Original modern paintings on the walls;

… .. Wonderful interior design of the hotel – very interesting ambient lighting,  natural raw wood for countertops, tables, as well as bizarrely shaped in a natural way huge wooden roots for table stands;

…. Rooms that do not have a sea view also show part of the bay and the sea;

…. Very nice pool on the top floor, but relatively small, with not many sunbeds so for hot summer holidays you may need to book. Everything is thought of on it – there are beach towels, with a QR code you see an online menu from which you can order food and drinks. Club music sounds keep your mood.

Feel ….

…. Fast and adequate service in the hotel, with care for quick elimination of small omissions;

…. The staff has been vaccinated twice, but still wears masks, in the bathrooms of the rooms there are sets of disinfectant with a mask and gloves for the guests;

…. For the peace of mind of the guests, the hotel has given the opportunity to request a complete or partial cleaning of the room by marking a card that hangs on the lock on the outside. If you demand cleaning, be sure to put it on;

…. The hotel also has a neat spa area with a fitness whole, which I wanted to be a little better lit to get a good look at its design;

…. The car parking is kindly provided by the hotel in the form of reserved spaces on the street in front of it, saturated with remarkably expensive car brands;

…. The textile used in the rooms is of very good quality, pleasant to the touch, the towels are soft and thick – an effort to provide maximum comfort to the guests;

…. Appropriately good compliments in the suits – 2 one-liter bottles of mineral water, 4 capsules for coffee, tea, two types of sugar, of course a coffee machine and a kettle for heating water. Also, the mini bar is very well stocked as well.

 Hear ….

…. During the day club music from the restaurant, in the evening Spanish, because that is its theme;

… The scream of seagulls flying around over the cove;

…. Low traffic from occasional cars – there is a street around the hotel. The good thing is that when you close the windows, the external noise completely disappears.

Smell ….

…. The whole hotel smells of candies from aromatizers;

… Fabulous aroma of stewed Black Sea mussels in the restaurant;

… All breakfast products smell appetizing and fresh.

Taste ….

…. Very good quality breakfast products – they were not too much in variety, but sufficient and well selected – prosciutto, Italian sausage, spicy Ventricina, two types of fish, several types of cheese, salads, jam, pancakes and fried bread slices, several types  of croissants, very nice freshly baked bread and one for toast, muesli and nuts, juices and water in individual bottles, a variety of different coffee drinks from the vending machines.

…. The restaurant has already been changed and the old Azahar is replaced by Boca Grande. It is still Spanish-oriented and offers selected aged meats and cheese. Of course, the prices are higher than the other places in Sozopol, but it is positioned high end.

…. I recommend the stewed mussels with a unique sauce, remarkably delicious;

…. Salads are great and desserts are irresistible, so make space in your stomach for them;

…. The bar is richly stocked with all kinds of quality drinks – our favorite rum Bumbu, as well as malt whiskeys. A very good solution to offer cigars.

If you have invested in a room with a sea view from your terrace, you can make a wonderful combination with a rum or whiskey, a cigar and the pleasure is entirely yours… and your partner’s!

I gladly share with you that the hotel has a very modern check-in system. They send you an email in advance and invite you to register yourself online to avoid crowding at the reception. It makes sense because I didn’t take advantage of this option and waited in line for a while. But I took a good look at the design of the reception, which has enough nice places to sit and wait.

Currently, the system is still being upgraded and you will soon be able to track your online bill, which you accumulate on the room account in a timely manner, without the need to be printed on paper, unless you insist on a hard copy invoice. As far as I understand, it is planned to be able to self-register before arrival, just by scanning your ID card, which would be great.

All this leads me to think of a modern sustainable approach by the hotel management, congratulations on that!
