I looked at numerous options on the internet and ended up writing to several guesthouses and hotels. When I was responded by Residenza Ducato, they offered me an apartment that wasn’t listed on the website, named Contarina, but it was just great – love at first sight. After a few emails, I was able to book it at a pretty good price.
It turned out to be right on our target because firstly it looks even better than in the pictures, secondly it is very comfortable for a family with 2 teens and thirdly our host, Paola, is the most sunny and cool host, which we have ever had. As we travelled to Venice, I kept her informed of our whereabouts. I was very disappointed with the flight delay of 1 hour which messed up our plans a lot. However, as we sat waiting for the boat that was supposed to take us to the center of Venice, downhearted and weary that it was already terribly late, a smiling woman came and called me by name, and it turned out to be Paola. How she found us and intercepted us, we could not understand. But she had gone to Treviso, and having read in my message that we were traveling to Venice, she came to meet us. She took us to the apartment personally and helped us get takeout from a restaurant. She even tried to make us a restaurant reservation beforehand, but it was too late for anybody to accept one.
Paola is great! She sent us restaurants to visit, recommended things to see while we were in town, she was extremely responsive about everything.
See ….
… Pleasant interior graphics and photos of Venice;
… Very sweet wallpaper in the kids bedroom of airships and hot air balloons.
Feel ….
… An incredible welcome by our host Paola- we did not expect such a commitment from Paola to welcome us upon arrival and for her assistance to be able to have dinner, despite the late hour;
… Very comfortable beds and pillows;
… The apartment offers all kinds of comfort- glasses, plates, refrigerator, even a microwave stove with several programs and the obligatory coffee machine, in this case Illy brand with several compliments capsules;
… Contarina heating is strong, which was important to us in February.
Hear ….
… The apartment has a Bose speaker, almost the same as the one I bring with me everywhere, which I left at home this time, so that I wouldn’t carry it on the airplanes. I found another here, so again I had the comfort of playing my favorite music. It is very easy to connect it to a phone through Bluetooth.
Movie watching time: 1:50 min.
Smell ….
… Illy is my coffee, which I drink at home, so I did not miss my favourite aroma and taste here.
Taste ….
There is no breakfast to this apartment, but everything you buy outside you can store well and consume comfortably. We took breakfast for the kids from a nearby cafe and brought it to the apartment. Also, we bought a bottle of Prosecco, which we put in the fridge to drink a glass in the evening. We did it after we were served a glass of not very good sparkling wine in one of the places around, which had nothing to do with Prosecco.
I recommend Residenza Ducato, not only because of the nice interior, not only because of the comfort, not only because of good prices, but mostly because of Paola. Thank you, Paola! You are great!
