STAY IN HOTEL GURKO, WITH RETRO STYLE AND VIEW TO YANTRA RIVER, VELIKO TARNOVO
Hotel Gurko score by the 5D Sensograph of placescases.com: 4.1 out of 5.
February 2018
See ….
…. The old scenic Gurko street in Veliko Turnovo – the cobblestone, the wooden gate of the hotel of the same name, the old style wagon in front of the entrance, the barrels, the wrought iron;
…. Interior inspired by the old town houses of Turnovo – stone and wood, masterpiece crochet bed covers;
…. Wonderful views from some rooms and the tavern to the Yantra River and the Asenevci Monument;
… Half a heart less because of the staggering bad website – the design urgently needs to be modernized.
Feel ….
…. There were repair construction works on the street, just in front of the hotel, everything was excavated and unfortunately unsafe – the municipality was in great misconduct by not having the construction site secured, and the hotel had to insist on it;
… Friendly service, people apologized constantly for the inconvenience of the repair;
… There is no place to park a car- the street is too narrow and the parking spots in the garage of the hotel are only 2, ask for them beforehand.
Hear ….
…. Absolute silence and tranquility in the evening – the street is very secluded and across from it is just the slope to the river.
Smell ….
…. The banitsa (traditional in Bulgaria eggs and cheese pie in pastry) – I love the aroma of the childhood years of freshly baked banitsa on Sunday.
Taste ….
…. I was expecting a home-style breakfast, pancakes, fried dough slices, pancakes, yoghurt, home-made lemonade, but from the enlisted there was only banitsa and yogurt ;
…. A continental breakfast with some charcuterie, which, although well-formed on the plate, was not very attractive.
Hotel Gurko has a pleasant, very romantic spirit of an old town house. Unfortunately, although the breakfast was very abundant, it was not such as to impress and match the unique style of the hotel. As I said, a bit of vintage chic and a taste like roasted egg and cheese sandwiches, banitsa, battered bread slices (traditional breakfast), mekitsi (fried dough pies) with honey, homemade jam, powdered sugar, homemade yoghurt, home-made milk, home-made lemonade would finish the pleasant experience.
How to book your stay at Hotel Gurko?
If you are not from Veliko Tarnovo and you are already planning a visit to the city, I recommend that you book your stay right here. For your convenience, I have added a booking.com box, which refers directly to their site. I guarantee you’re going to use all your genius discounts and privileges they would offer to you. Just enter the dates of your trip, then hit the Search button and voila. In addition, booking.com are doing their best to make sure that your expectations as a customer are fulfilled. I’ve described an example about the latter in my story about our stay in Shangri-La hotel in Singapore .
