Sea Urhicn, wonderful delicacy at Oceanides by placescases.com

Oceanides – different fish restaurant, at the edge of Afytos, Kassandra, Halkidiki

Last time visited in July 2015 with family

See… the marvelous sea view from the tables right on the coastal walk and the terraces

Smell… the light sea flavor of achinos (sea urchin)

Taste… surely the sea urchin, since you will not find it at many places

Feel and Experience… friendly service; the summer mood of the visitors

Hear… the summer mood buzz of people walking and dining on the pedestrian street, enjoying their vacation

If you have the chance to spend an evening at Afytos, situated on the first leg of Halkidiki, named Kassandra, you should definitely spent some leisure time walking the cute old cobblestone streets, exploring the souvenirs at the artisan shops.

And when you feel already tired and hungry one of your options for dining is visiting a fish restaurant at the coastal walk. The second in the line from the corner is Oceanides. Likewise the other restaurants on the line, it offers variety of fresh sea food and fish, which is at a little lower price than the neighboring Thea Thalassa.

The great difference is that Oceanides offers achinos (sea urchin). I was very curious to test it, since I have heard that it is great delicacy. The waiter told me that it is a very strong meal full of concentrated proteins, Omega-3 and zink.

They serve it in a glass, to be consumed by tea spoon, seasoned with lemon and some olive oil. Form the very first bite I understood that it is exceptional. Truly I did not expect it to be so delicious and delicate! It tasted like something between foie gras and oyster. You can have it with some of that delectable Greek bread too and you will need nothing more than a good wine. Definitely not for all tastes but if you like it from the first bite, it enchants you forever.

The grilled fish was not as good as at the neighbors but I did not care much after the achinos.

Address: When you take the coastal pedestrian street, the second in line, after Thea Thalassa.
