We were headed to Crna Ovca and Bar Central. The first place we already knew, and it was a super cool ice cream cafe, where they don’t just make some trivial taste of ice-creams, but experiment with aromas, and textures bravely.

The second I knew it was the place with the best cocktails in Belgrade. So, besides ice cream and cocktails we wanted to eat something delicious,  without staying for too long in the restaurant.

My friend who lived in Belgrade suggested to try wondrous burgers nearby, which according to another friend of hers were the best in Belgrade.

So we hit the best burgers in Smokvica (means fig in Serbian). It turned out they make good cocktailsthere  too.

See ….

…. An old house with a hipster façade, and inside a very nice interior- a little rustic, with a very homey atmosphere, you can comfortably get stuck longer, because it is very nice;

…. Not very large, but very neat garden, with retro tables and chairs- wood and wrought iron;

…. From the garden you can see the kitchen through a glass window ;

…. A retro black board with the offers for the day written with chalk;

…. The furniture- in one place a corner with a low and soft sofas, in another wooden tables and chairs, in the third one big door has become a table, and then- high bar table with chairs made of leather, further-  upholstered comfortable chairs with backrest- with two words: eclecticism with style….;

…. The only unpleasant thing that took my eye out was the toilet- messy paper on the floor, not very cozy, one of those that you don’t want to stay long. It was exactly the opposite example of the one in Frans. That is why half a heart dropped here.

…. Very friendly service and the staff speaks English;

…. Homely atmosphere!

…. The meatballs in the burgers were very tasty with well- ground beef, stripped of all kinds of gristles and hard-to-chew textures.

…. Favourite World Retro Hits- Barry White, Earth, Wind and Fire, Donna Summer, Bee Gees….

Smell ….

…. The bacon gave a very pleasant flavor of baked and very lightly smoked meat;

…. Smoke in one of the dips, which was served with the potatoes!

…. Red pepper powder in the French fries- cool seasoning;

…. The acute and refreshing scent of ginger in their variation of Mojito cocktail;

…. And those visitors of Belgrade who do not want to miss a chance to enjoy the aroma of the local rakia, here are some wonderful small bottles, individual dose, with plum rakia, I think it was called Premier.

Taste ….

…. Of course a burger- Smokvica burger has everything you need for a perfect taste-bacon, beef meatball, sour cream, pickles. Do not forget to order French fries, but I recommend that you take from the Batat type, that is, a sweet potato, which pleasant sweetness very well corresponds with the spicy and lightly smoky aroma of the two dips that come with it;

…. If you don’t want to eat a bun there is an option for a burger without it, or T-Bone, Ribeye steak!

…. If you are not a beef style eater, there’s pasta, soup, salads, and even a tandoori chicken;

…. My kids ordered a panco chicken- it’s good that I tried it first, because they ate it for a super short time. Panco is a very nice Japanese breading that makes the chicken very crispy. They served it with a very tasty dip with turmeric;

…. Cocktail- I tried the one for the day- Mojito with ginger and honey. It was great!

Smokvica is a project of friends enthusiasts. Their idea was to feel relaxed in their restaurants and to eat dishes of very tasty, fresh, well-chosen products. They have made several establishments in Belgrade and even rent some neat rooms AirBnB type.
