15-20 minutes from Townhouse 27, the hotel that we stayed in last time in Belgrade,  is Beton Hala. I have already told you about it in my post Endless Feast in AmBar, Belgrade, Serbia. People go there to eat, drink and party like true bohemians. Toro Latin Gastrobar is  Ambar’s ‘brother’. They are both located at Betobn Hala.

Toro and Ambar are under the umbrella of Street Guys Hospitality, a conceptual organization, of people who offer quality food and service in their restaurants. Toro specifically uses the concept of Chef Richard Sandoval for delicious Latino cuisine in combination with a fun atmosphere.

Chef Sandoval’s cuisine is remarkable for his skilful combinations of South American ingredients with fragrances from around the world, cooked with modern techniques. This gives his unique style, which attracts the customers in his restaurants. Leading hotels from around the world have approached him to construct their menus.

See ….

…. The interior is cool and trendy- just like in Ambar you will see large wall murals, old pictures, cool lamps, candles and it becomes just as dark from one moment onwards when they reinforce the party tone (the reason my pictures to be really fuzzy );

…. It is full of people, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, at the peak night life- you must make a reservation in advance;

…. If you plan to have lunch there, you’re going to enjoy a river view, you can even sit outside to enjoy it better, despite it may be a little cold. They have heaters.

…. Naturally, just like in the Ambar here you can order an endless dinner- for a fixed price you get tapas from the whole menu. It is very tasty, but at some point, you feel full and you are not able to continue. In practice, it is not possible to try absolutely everything, but you have a reason to go again to taste the rest. If you’ve targeted some specific dishes, you better inform the waitress to give them priority. ;

…. In the middle of the hall there is a swing- people make selfies there;

…. Half heart dropped because the toilet was not in its best condition- messy papers thrown around more typical for a night club, missing cleaner on duty.

Feel ….

…. The waiters were super friendly and nice young boys and girls;

…. The party hubbub and  people speaking wide variety of languages;

…. The pleasant crunch of the fried squid.

Hear ….

…. The music is dynamic, cool, with retro base, elaborated with contemporary beat- if we were not with the children, I would stay for a party and cocktails.

Smell ….

…. The enchanting aroma of coriander in the Ceviche- since we ordered endless dinner, we had the pleasure to taste the tuna version but there is also with shrimps and other sea food. If you prefer the shrimp, just tell the waiter;

…. In Serbia smoking is allowed in restaurants, but we didn’t feel smoke here at all, apparently, they have good ventilation;

…. The scent of apricot in rakia Hubert.

Video watching time: 1.5

Taste ….

…. I recommend you to choose the option with the endless dinner, if you want to try more things, but  you should be aware that you will get easily full and also that you cannot order it for two;

…. Dessert Churos – a fried-dough pastry, typical for Latin America, Spain and Portugal, and can eat it sprinkled with sugar or melted chocolate;

…. Quesadilla – flat like a pancake bread stuffed inside with ground beef cooked on slow pot, very pleasant;

…. Crispy Shrimp- there are only five in the portion, but thus you will have space in stomach to try other things.

…. Beef fillet- perfectly prepared, slightly pink in the middle and roasted along the edge.

…. The local brandy named Rakia- if you have not tried Serbian rakia, be sure to try it – pear and apricot. The Serbs know how to do them!

I can continue to explain how delicious the cuisine of Toro Latin Gastrobar is, but it is best you to visit it personally and feel its modern urban ambiance.
