Erotokritos is an old place from 1967, named after one of the most emblematic literature works, born in the early 17th century, on the island of Crete by the author Vikentios Kornaros. The work is a romance in poetic form, which was performed against the background of music. Naturally, it tells about love, which is hindered, but in the end triumphs.
As for the first dinner on the island of Crete, it was nice to start with poetry, albeit gastronomic.
See ….
…. Erotokritos is one of a number of restaurants in the port, but I have a feeling it was the best;
…. The water in the port is green in color and small fish swim in it;
…. During the day you can see in the distance the high sharp peaks of Crete mountain.
Feel ….
…. Adequate service, not very fast, but we had no urgency;
…. In the evening, a light breeze blows, but the fans also help;
…. The staff of the whole island wears masks, both inside and outside. This is a requirement for all restaurants in Greece now in the pandemic. Very unfair, given that all employees have been vaccinated and are not danger to the others.
Hear ….
…. There was a commotion from many people because of the crowded tables. No wave surf is heard, because in the port the water is quiet and calm.
Movie watching time: 1:07 min.
Smell ….
…. Orange and arugula in the salad with smoked salmon – wonderful!
Taste ….
…. Great green salad with lettuce, arugula, orange and lime slices with smoked salmon and citrus dressing;
…. Here they bring bread with dip and olives, which is not done everywhere without ordering it. Of course, it is included in the price, but in the end, you do not pay such a big bill, compared to a similar one in Halkidiki;
…. Order fresh fish, the restaurant has such a focus. Crete prices for fresh fish are much lower than in Halkidiki. Here you pay a maximum of 60 euros per kilo.
…. Nice pasta with shrimp – the children ate it immediately;
…. Very nice white wine, with mineral flavor and high acids from the cellar Hadjimihali White Multivarietal or Polipoikiliakos 2019, with varieties Chardonnay, Athiri, Robola, and Assyrtiko. You will see it in the movie.
… Finally, there is ice cream for the children, for the adults quite a nice panna cotta with a chocolate dip on top.
Of course, the compliment also includes a small bottle of the local tsikoudia brandy, which tastes a lot like brandy and does not have anise in it, unlike tsipouro to the North of Greece.
