I would never have heard about Izvoro if I hadn’t been brought there by people who spend a lot of weekends and holidays in Bansko. They know it from other frequent visitors, and they know it from locals. The place is not that impressive at first glance, but it has a lot of strengths. Read on to find out what they are.

…. After overcoming a rather bad road with many road bumps and holes, and you get to a place that can be defined as the middle of nowhere, you see a tolerable building, but around quite a lot mud, not very impressive, and the season was such that this defect was intensified;

…. Simple interior, but neat, inside there is a corner with toys for children, but next to the tables, and outside a playground;

…. It the weekend is it packed with people. Most of them are locals, because tourists can’t go there if they haven’t been told about the restaurant;

…. Two large fishponds next to the restaurants supply it with fresh fish, a real spring is bubbling nearby.
 

Izvoro means spring in the local dialect.

 

 

…. There is also a barn with 2 deers. Probably the idea is to make children happy. However, I find it cruel to these animals;

…. A small informative menu in which you have options for freshwater fish – several species of trout, catfish, carp.

Due to the unpleasant trip to the restaurant, which does not depend so much on the people there, the mud around and the deer barn, I take back 3 hearts.

…. People try hard to offer good service, although we waited a long time to order, then for the fish – when the restaurant is full, things are difficult;

…. There is a lot of crowds over the weekend, you need a reservation, otherwise it is a waste of time and spare car parts on the road to the place.

Because of the long waiting, one heart was taken away and because of the need to go around to find a waiter to serve us.

Hear ….

…. Bulgarian pop – it was very nice, but the songs were repeated, obviously the list was short;

…. If your table is next to the children’s corner, you will be in an awkward position – there is a piano toy and if a young Rachmaninoff comes to play, it’s a lot of fun. 🙂

I hold my heart because of the underestimated sound situation.

Smell ….

…. Everything is fresh, the fish too, it doesn’t smell of mud, because the water in the fishponds is constantly refreshed, so you can safely go for a carp meal if the smell usually stops you.

Taste ….

The biggest plus in this place are the fresh and delicious products. Here even winter tomatoes are tasty.

…. Smoked trout salad – wonderful, (I even made the same one at home when I got home)- no fish, no avocado, no cedar nuts were spared;

…. Fresh fish, baked or fried- very tasty;

…. Fish soup, if you are a fan, you can also try it;

…. Quite tasty French fries, the material itself is nice, because it’s a little sweet – when they give you some, you make a carb bomb.

One visits fish restaurant Izvoro because they were recommended and because of the fish. What would make them come back are the delicious products, including the fish, they put in the dishes and the completely normal prices. Despite the unpleasant road to the restaurant, I would visit Izvoro, because it is delicious there, and I guess in the summer will be green around, there will be no mud and it will be nice in the yard.
