Bar Sputnik, in addition to being famous for its wonderful cocktails, in which it relies on the great traditional Balkan drink rakia, is also well-known with its rakia workshops.

Read about them in RAKIA WORKSHOP IN RAKIA RAKETA BAR, SOFIA, BULGARIA.

After the big closure along the Covid-19 pandemic, they started offering brunch every Sunday. The food is creation of a very strong tandem chef, Martin Nikolov, who used to be in the Circle, and the well-known experimenter, a Japanese-Bulgarian with extravagant fusion ideas, who owned the Happy Pig, June Yoshida. The price for the brunch is not fixed, you just choose from a special menu.

The name of the event is “Our brunch is not like your brunch!” And it really is not.

If you expect variations of scrambled eggs and others, you’d better not go. If you want to be surprised and enjoy something different and delicious on Sunday afternoon, reserve a seat as soon as it is published.

See ….

…. It was full of people because of the beautiful warm autumn day. Every table on the terrace was occupied. On some of the tables there were customers of Raketa Rakia, on the others- clients  of Sputnik’s. I decided that everyone could order from both menus, but it turned out not to be the case. If I could, I would order desserts from Raketa Rakia, but I couldn’t. What to do. Next time.

…. Nice view of the park, we saw it from our high bar table. We watched children rollerblading, people walking, there was an exhibition;

…. The appetizing appearance of the dishes.

…. The beautiful arrangement in the carafes with the water – reminded me of those in Happy Pig;

…. The look of the Snow White cocktail,  served in a green apple – very impressive!

…. Chef Tsvetomir Nikolov, from Nikolas 0/360 was a guest of the brunch. If he has decided to have breakfast on his day off his restaurant in this very place, then it is really worth it. Shouldn’t we expect a brunch menu on Saturday at Nikolas soon? 🤔😀

Feel ….

…. Veeeery slow service. We ordered water several times, but it didn’t come. I waited for half an hour for a cocktail, the dishes themselves coming slowly. The waiter was really very kind and he apologized. He said they had run out of water carafes, that there had been a delay in the kitchen and at the bar. These things will have to be fixed if the brunch scheme remains in the future.

Hear ….

…. Quite noisy because of the many people, I didn’t hear any music, but it was a nice jolly noise.

Movie watching time: 2:59 min.

Smell ….

…. There was a strip of cucumber and parsley in the jugs of water, which gave it an incredibly fresh aroma;

…. Coriander in the iceberg dressing on lahmajun – very nice!

…. The smoky scent of whiskey in the dessert Chocolate Panna cotta- great idea!

…. Hazelnut in Kuma-Lisa cocktail – wonderful!

Taste ….

…. Everything on the menu was very tasty – watch the movie to find out what it included. Although the lahmajun was made with plain Arabic bread, which is also sold in stores, it was very spectacular and incredibly tasty because of the unique filling on top.

…. The panna cotta lacked cream density!

…. Super cocktails – all of them! If you are a fan of not so sweet cocktails, I recommend Snow White – very fresh and slightly sour.

It was a very tasty Sunday, thanks to Sputnik!
