I spotted La Bottega al Viale in Manastirski Livadi in Sofia during the last closure of restaurants due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I was sorry I couldn’t go in and feel its atmosphere. A few months later, I finally made it and regretted not doing it earlier. It turned out that as an interior the place is very nice, very cozy, the service polite and the food delicious. I pay special attention to their wine list and the opportunity to drink good wine in a glass from a bottle. It turned out that the company is an importer of wine and that is why it is such an emphasis with them. The restaurant is part of the group of Cinecitta, Hamachi-Ni and Mediterraneo – very strong restaurants! In continuation of the series for Italian cuisine in Sofia, started with Briciole and followed by Da Massimo & Fabbio, we continue now with La Bottega.
See ….
…. Stylish interior, with much coziness – modern fireplace creates a pleasant ambiance feeling;
…. For the younger guests of the restaurant, there is also an aquarium with fish;
…. It is not noticeable from the outside, but the room is large – there are 2 halls, for the summer there is a small garden outside;
…. Very ingenious and stylish plating – for example, bruschettas and crostini are served on crumpled rice paper placed on boards. This both gives a different look and gives more hygienic safety so that different guests’ food is not placed on the same board.
Feel ….
…. Most of the time we come across very good waiters, quite familiar with wine, and the manager, in addition to being very kind, is a pretty good expert, maybe even a sommelier. Once I only came across a waiter who seemed annoyed to explain what wine he had for the day by the glass, he decided that with the explanation “we have white, rose and red from Vitese” he had finished his work. I wanted to tell me more about the varieties of wine, but he cut me off with this remark. Hence, one heart fell. Given that the company is an importer, wants to advertise its wines and can attract fans, it is unacceptable to spoil the moment with the client’s acquaintance with the wine of the day. If he is not aware, he can simply bring the bottle to the customer. With the availability of applications such as ViVino, everyone can now check the necessary information;
…. There is no parking if you have a car, but there is something better – right in front of the restaurant, on the other side of the small street, there is a good car wash. You come, you leave the car to be taken care of by swift boys, and you wait calmly in La Bottega in a good atmosphere with delicious food until it is ready;
…. Next to the restaurant there is a shop selling wine, farm products and freshly prepared hot food to take home.
Hear ….
…. Nice hits, Christmas music, I think it was from Vanilla Radio.
Movie watching time: 1:22 min.
Smell ….
…. If there is an open white wine of the Grillo variety, with aromas of apples and some tropical fruits, do not hesitate and try it, maybe with truffle crostini;
Taste ….
There is a special menu for the day, but the regular list also contains tempting offers.
…. As a typical wine place, you can just grab a plate of bruschettas or snacks, cicchetti or crostini, a plate of salami and cheeses, a bottle of good wine and enjoy the dancing snowflakes outside.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the bread is from the Bakers Brothers, made with yeast and tricks you into eating more, because it is insanely tasty!
What is cicchetti, you can read in A very tasty Italian place – Briciole, Sofia.
…. I came across a very different lasagna with tuna one day and I did not regret ordering it;
…. The most common scrambled eggs with leeks is a really fine choice. Of course, they are made with farm eggs;
…. The burgers – Italian and plain are great – they are a favorite of my daughters. The potatoes with them, baked, not fried, are uniquely delicious – they are a favorite of our family;
…. If you want, you can also eat pizza;
…. There is always fresh pasta – once I came across some ravioli with tomato sauce, which was not very well balanced, with more sour taste, than my preferences;
…. For dessert, try a mousse with Belgian chocolate and tiramisu. Get a restretto for him.
I am going to be a frequent guest at La Bottega al Viale, because it is a very convenient place on my routes and I am glad that I have such a nice restaurant nearby.
