This review is more unconventional, in which I present two of the best restaurants in Kazanlak. One has a fusion cuisine, in European , more Italian style, with modern interior and youthful atmosphere. The other is a traditional Bulgarian mehana (a tavern in a traditional style).

The place that received unconditionally the highest rating of 5 hearts ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ by the 5D Sensograph 👁🖐👂👃👅 in Kazanlak is the Italian bakery Giorgio. Read about it in Italian bakery Giorgio – a must go in Kazanlak, Bulgaria

…. Very nice modern interior, cozy and playful lights and colors;

…. The menu is short and informative, with interesting suggestions.

Feel ….

…. Convenient location, on a street right next to Sevtopolis Square, close to the pedestrian zone;

…. Polite service, but without masks;

… Comfortable chairs, armchairs, sofas. Two of the tables had very nice swings.

Listen ….

…. Cool modern arrangements of songs from the 90’s and 2000’s- played by an online radio station.

Smell ….

…. The smell of the pizza was very appetizing;

…. The aroma of puree and the sauce to the pork fillet was fresh and complemented the dish well.

Taste ….

…. The hummus was good, but an idea rarer than it should be;

…. The breaded chicken wings seemed to be frozen from an envelope, but were ok;

…. Pork fillet – tender, but the sauce and puree with it had a more noticeable presence than the meat itself;

…. Unfortunately, the chips were not as tasty as the homemade ones – I suppose they were frozen in an envelope, but they were crispy and went well with the beer.

…. The drink menu is decent – good wines and beers, including my favorite Weiss variation.

I recommend Bellezza to people who are looking for a party atmosphere, good modern music, non-standard menu and hookah fans.

Magnolia Restaurant, next to Magnolia Hotel.

Restaurant Magnolia is a typical Bulgarian mehana or tavern, to the hotel of the same nameр, and is located closer to the Kazanlak tomb than to the center, but it can still be reached quickly and easily by foot. It offers traditional Bulgarian style and dishes.

…. Quite a large menu, which has always bothered me, because it raises doubts about how fresh the products and dishes are. Usually such menus rely more on frozen preforms.

…. The interior is in a traditional style, supporting the concept of the restaurant – a fireplace in the garden under the canopy, mints, gourds, the typical traditional red tablecloths with embroidery.

Feel ….

…. The waitress is very smiling, but alone for the whole restaurant, probably there was not much attendance – we were 2 tables only. The woman is constantly moving between us and the kitchen, between the kitchen and the other table, and we understand that at one of the many requests, to bring something, she reacts with a light chuckle, which tells me that she felt pressure. I felt guilty and apologized to her for constantly making her to fetch things, although it should be a problem of the restaurant for leaving her alone to service, not mine. Of course she assured me it is not problem for her to indulge us.

…. Bulgarian hits, various music, rather than radio.

Smell ….

…. For the second time we make the mistake of ordering Troyan apricot rakia. No scent at all, as expected. That’s why the one made of plums is much better.

Rakia is a traditional local alcohol made of fruit via distillation. It reminds very much brandy but is not so aged as the latter.

Taste ….

…. Crepe with chicken – a very nice and tasty, unconventional thing. Meat and yellow cheese with vegetables, wrapped in a pancake and baked. There were several types, including a vegetarian version;

…. Tender pork chops, baked just right;

…. Ayran is a little rarer than desired.

Ayran is another local non-alcoholic drink made of yogurt and water, with added a little salt.

 

… Breaded yellow cheese – it was great without spilling and without being dry;

…. Parlenka with yellow cheese and cheese – freshly baked and delicious bread, local style, resembling pizza with cheese;

…. Caramel cream was good.

I recommend Magnolia to the guests of the hotel of the same name, because it is just the next door, and also to all willing to have traditional Bulgarian specialties. Here you will not have unpleasant surprises in the menu, everything is delicious and you will eat well.
