Online movies festival @home

The need to be responsible and stay at home provoked me to create @home rubric in  the blog placescases.com, and gather in a concentrated format  favorite places and events we can visit ….. at home.

In my first post Theater @home, I talked about theaters in Bulgaria and around the world that broadcast online performances.

In the second, Do virtual dinners lead to domestic alcoholism?, I suggested the alternative of having fun with friends as before, only virtually.

Then in the Gourmet @home series I got you a list and a direct impression of how you can treat yourself as a true gourmand by ordering food and drinks from some of the best restaurants in Bulgaria.

Now, with Online movies festival @home, I want to share some great news from the cinema world.

Twenty film festivals have teamed up on YouTube to launch a 10-day movie stream on May 29 to raise funds to fight Covid-19. The organizers are not anyone but Tribeca Enterprises and of course the YouTube platform. As you may know, the co-founder of Tribeca is Robert De Niro himself.

The funds are collected by the World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, along with local relief partners in various parts of the world. The channel will broadcast feature-length films, shorts, documentaries, music, comedy and conversations. There will be already known пдэсея, as well as brand new works, not broadcast yet.

The festival will feature programming curated by the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival, International Film Festival & Awards Macao (IFFAM), Jerusalem Film Festival, Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI), Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, Marrakech International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, San Sebastian International Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and Venice Film Festival.

I also add some curious information. In 2016, Tribeca pulled an anti-vaxxer documentary after initially supported by Robert De Niro. He then reconsidered and removed it by commenting as follows:

“My intent in screening this film was to provide an opportunity for conversation around an issue that is deeply personal to me and my family. But after reviewing it over the past few days with the Tribeca Film Festival team and others from the scientific community, we do not believe it contributes to or furthers the discussion I had hoped for.”

Now that scientific teams around the world have been frantically searching for a vaccine against Covid-19, humanity is in a completely different phase in this pro and cons dispute.

The important thing is that we expect many wonderful moments with this massive online movies festival. Here’s a link to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChMc3c7Xvv6ol1Zv47Ja39A/

There are already almost 60k subscribers who also want to go to the online movies festival @home.
