When we talk about Belchin Spring SPA complex, comparisons with Yastrebets Hotel in Borovets are inevitable, not only because I see many familiar faces from the staff who worked in Yastrebets. Yes, there is a big difference, because the second is in a mountain resort, at the ski slope, and the first is mostly a SPA hotel, but it is only some 25 kilometers from the ski runs of Borovets. So, at Belchin Spring you have the option of skiing, spa treatments, walking sports, as well as visiting the historical and religious landmark Tsari Mali Grad. In addition, the hill on which the fortress is located is good for light hiking, and on top there are great playgrounds for children. The other advantages are related to the fact that Belchin Spring is a newer hotel, put into operation in 2019, much more modern in design and concept.
See ….
…. The hotel has a nice and stylish interior. It is similar to the one of Hotel Promenade in Burgas, and also Constantinoff Restobar – two places that I write about every time with great pleasure and I am always happy to return there. The presence of wood in a natural color, as the modern trends now, rug motifs, leather, comfortable soft armchairs, tables made of rough black stone provide comfort and make you feel cozy;
… .Vertical gardens with real plants – pots with fresh flowers were a ubiquitous in Hotel Yastrebets, but the last years they were gradually replaced with artificial ones. Here, too, the plants are not fresh everywhere – in the dark places, where it is clear that there is no way to grow, there are substitutes;
…. Original paintings, by the same artist, Pavel Mitkov, who is also present with his art in Yastrebets;
… .. Plexiglas partitions at the reception. All staff wear masks placed correctly on the nose. At breakfast, masks and gloves for guests’ self-service are placed on the table at the entrance. Disinfectants are everywhere, including in the elevator;
…. Great views of the Rila Mountain from the odd-numbered rooms, the lobby bar and the outdoor pools.
Feel ….
…. The service is perfect – the staff is very well trained – you can feel the training of hotel Yastrebets. I add that when I spoke to them about their old employer, I did not hear a single complaint or bad word;
…. Despite the fact that all the requirements for protective equipment and disinfectants are met, so that many people do not gather in one place, at breakfast the guests are distributed in different halls, and at dinner there are 2 shifts;
…. The masseurs at the spa are great. I went there with a problem and left like reborn. Some of the people are from Hotel Yastrebets;
…. In addition to good cosmetics, the bathrooms in the rooms are equipped with razors, toothbrushes, slippers, bathrobes, complimentary drinks in the fridge – a few soft drinks and water, 3in1 coffee. You can buy a swimsuit from the spa area if you have forgotten yours;
… I want to pay special attention to the spa area. Have in mind that some of the facilities did not work in terms of safety from infection.
The spa area of Belchin Spring has a very nice salt sauna, Finnish sauna, ice maker, large relaxation area with warm beds, but the biggest advantage is the hot pools outside. No matter what the temperature outside, in the pools with 36-40 degrees you feel great. And the view from them to the snowy peaks of Rila Mountain is incomparable.
…. A few very small remarks to the rooms – the bathroom has a threshold, which if you are not careful can turn into a plunge on the tiles inside. Also, there is no warm radiator for drying a swimsuit, and I did not see / hear a fan.
Hear ….
…. In the restaurant at dinner we enjoyed evergreen music that went well with the interior and the delicious food;
…. Chill-out and relaxing music sounds everywhere in the hotel and in the spa area, not the typical Richard Clayderman-style hotel music.
Movie watching time: 5:14 min.
Smell ….
…. The aroma of very good quince rakia Zarich in the restaurant – I recommend it;
… If you are a fan, try Bumbu rum from the lobby bar – wonderful vanilla notes, very mild taste and warmth that spreads slowly through your senses. If you are a typical aficionado, you can sip this splendid drink with a cigar on comfortable chairs, with a view to Rila mountain, to enjoy the afternoon sun.
Taste ….
…. Breakfast is very good – quality and fresh products – eggs in 2 forms, a few charcuteries, marinated fish, cheese several types, fruits, vegetables, 3 coffee machines, which make a good espresso. It was well thought that there were more machines so that there would be no crowding in front of them. Milk – both cow and soy and other types. I was most impressed by the honeycomb and the small eclairs with fine cream.
The dinner was perfect. It is la carte with many interesting suggestions, not gourmet, but still super tasty and masterfully arranged on the plates. The manager of the restaurant is trained at the Yastrebets Hotel, things are under good control. The service is good and skillful.
… .All salads are great. I recommend Caesar salad and pickle with smoked red pepper, which goes very well with the quince rakia recommended above in the “Smell” category;
…. Very tasty soups – I tried goulash and solyanka. Solyanka is a Russian soup with fish and was very well served with a ball of sour cream and lime;
…. Of the appetizers, the roasted spicy beef tongue with yellow cheese is a must for carnivores;
… .Steaks, fish, schnitzels, in any form – were all great, be sure to add a side dish of potatoes, no matter fried or baked. The area is famous for its good potatoes – they are very tasty!
…. I became a big fan of chicken cutlets with Aioli sauce from the main courses. The chicken is perfectly roasted, and on the side next to it are added delicious little toasts with yellow cheese between them;
…. Good choices from the desserts are crème brulee, soufflé and dessert Belchin Spring;
…. There is good wine in small bottles and glasses, for those who prefer smaller quantities.
