June 2018
We were aiming at another restaurant for dinner, but the reception of our hotel Ubud Raya Resort did not understand well that they should make a reservation for us. We changed the plan and ended in restaurant The Dining Corner, Kayumanis, which turned out to be a very nice place. I guess that’s exactly what we had to visit, and all of our company was happy to see things go wrong in such right way. 😊

See ….
…. The restaurant is located at the end of the complex, in its center there is a swimming pool, fountain at the entrance, located on the banks of the river, there are very few tables– real Zen atmosphere;
…. Traditional Balinese motifs as decoration;
…. The vegetables in the salads are colorful and very pleasing to the eye;
…. A wine list with very high prices. :-O the cheapest bottle is about EUR 50;
…. They brought us a few menus with local, Thai and European cuisine there was quite a confusion who ordered what from where;
…. Very interestingly served skewers, which are called satay, on a small crock, at the bottom, on which there is a charcoal, and thus the skewers are smoked gently;
…. Beautiful orchids and a bouquet in the toilet.
Feel ….
…. We had a special booth for our big company of 12 people, where we felt comfortable and well seated;
…. Service with attention in detail-pulling the chair back for the ladies, putting a cloth napkin on the client’s lap, it has been a long time since they offered me such a service, even a little awkward;
…. Finally, they gave us a feedback sheet that they responded to instantly. On the remark that the dessert kelepon is very little as quantity, they brought immediately another serving for each family as a compliment
…. Crispy Topping on freshwater fish gourami, with a sauce of onion and galangal (local ginger);
…. We were slightly misled that the freshwater fish we ordered would suffice for 3, and it turned out it to be not enough for two, so we ordered an extra portion. It slowed the rhythm of the whole dinner and while some already wiped hands in the graciously proposed moist towels in Asian manners, others still ate the basics;
…. Finally we were served a compliment tea and coffee by choice. I chose lychee tea, very pleasant, came with jug milk, so it became exactly the way I love it.
Hear ….
…. The peace and quiet of the holiday village- we were even asked to keep quiet as we pass through it until we reach the restaurant;
…. On the opposite hill, on the other side of the river, there was some kind of live performance-it turned out that this is a special ceremony that is performed every six months in a temple that is nearby, so instead of music, we listened to something like dramatization with traditional songs.
Smell …
…. Fresh combination of local ginger, galangal, with onions and lemongrass in appetizer grilled fish fillet with spices and cucumber;
…. Very sweet, slightly caramel odor from the filling with coconut sugar in the traditional dessert of rice dough kelepon.;
…. The aroma of the roasted garlic in the toppings of green beans and chicken pieces to the skewers;
…. The fresh green fragrances of the Convergence Two Rivers Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough Valley 2017, which came very much in place with my fish, only in the beginning it was an idea too cool, maybe because the glasses were very cold, but after it warmed a little we enjoyed its perfumes. I add only that the wine is usually over EUR 50 on Bali.
Taste ….
…. Fish Gourami– easy to clean, with a large central bone, very nice meat, accompanied with a wonderful aromatic Balinese sauce, served with boiled white rice;
…. Bread complement with salted butter– made of Easter dough and slightly sweet, definitely a very good start for our hungry company;
…. Ribs, marinated and smeared with barbecue sauce, just fabulous!
…. Signature appetizer trademark, spectacularly served in coconut- fruit salad with shrimp tempura;
…. Besides the already mentioned dessert kelepon, there was another very notable one Cassata Napoleon, homemade ice cream in different colors, wrapped in cookie dough, chocolate glaze, topped with nuts.
